  29. FRESHFISH CD

  32. The FreshFish Volume 7 (Nov/Dec) CD's went into production on Nov 1st, and
  33. started shipping on Nov 4th.  The next FreshFish CD, Volume 8, is expected
  34. to go into production during the middle of January.
  35.  
  36. We have several planned improvements in the FreshFish CD, that we are
  37. keeping under our hat for the moment, and that are expected to start
  38. appearing with Volume 8.  We think our customers will be quite pleased with
  39. the pending changes, and we will continue to strive for the highest possible
  40. level of excellence in all our products.

  43. GOLDFISH  CD

  46. GoldFish Volume 1, a 2-CD set released in April of 1994, provides a complete
  47. archive of the 1000 "fish disk" floppy library, with all the disks provided
  48. in both archived and ready-to-run form.  It can be used to produce master
  49. floppy disks for further duplication and distribution, using a simple to use
  50. program that is provided on the CD-ROM.  It can also be used by BBS or
  51. anonymous ftp sites to provide convenient electronic access to all the
  52. material from the floppy library.

  54. GoldFish Volume 2, a 2-CD set released in December of 1994, includes all the
  55. new submissions included on the first 7 volumes of the FreshFish CD series,
  56. with all the material updated to the latest available version as of the date
  57. of completion of the GoldFish CD.  As with Volume 1, all of the material is
  58. included in both archived and unarchived form.  It also includes the latest
  59. versions of the "useful tools" included on each FreshFish CD, such as the
  60. GNU utilities, reviews of hardware and software, etc.  This CD will start
  61. shipping on Dec 13th.

  64. LIGHT-ROM CD
  65. ============

  67. In cooperation with Lightwave artist Michael Meshew, we now offer a new CD
  68. called "LIGHT-ROM".  This is a 647 Mb CD dedicated to 3D artists all over
  69. the world, and contains Lightwave objects, scene files, textures, bump maps
  70. (JPEG, IFF, & TARGA), fonts, thumbnail renderings, and text files with
  71. advice from the rendering pros.  It also contains a "Showcase Directory",
  72. displaying the talents of selected Lightwave artists from all over the
  73. world.

  75. LIGHT-ROM will be updated at approximately 6 month intervals.  Contributors
  76. will be eligible for a free copy.  The retail price is $39.95 plus $3.95 for
  77. shipping and handling.

  80. FRESHFONTS CD

  83. In cooperation with fonts enthusiast Daniel Amor, we published a new fonts
  84. CD in early November.  This CD was published as an experiment under
  85. conditions similar to the Meeting Pearls CD, whereby users that find the CD
  86. interesting and useful are expected to make a shareware like donation to the
  87. creators of the CD.

  89. Thousands of these CDs were distributed free of charge at the Computer '94
  90. show to customers at Stefan Ossowski's Schatztruhe booth.  We have also
  91. distributed almost all of the CD's that we had allocated for our customers
  92. that receive other CD's during November and December.  So far the results
  93. have been quite disappointing, with at most a few hundred dollars in
  94. donations received.  We will declare the experiment officially over on
  95. February 1st, 1995, and provide a summary of the results at that time.

  98. TURBOCALC V2.0

  101. We are an authorized U.S. distributor of TurboCalc V2.0, a very powerful
  102. Amiga spreadsheet program.  TurboCalc has extensive formatting options,
  103. supports many different font formats, more than 40 different number, time,
  104. and date formats, more than 100 functions covering arithmetic and financial
  105. needs, more than 120 ARexx and macro instructions, integrated database, and
  106. more.  TurboCalc retails for $115 plus $6.95 for shipping and handling.

  109. AMINET CD

  112. We are an authorized U.S. distributor of the new Aminet CD.  Both the Aminet
  113. Gold and the Aminet Share are available.  Subscriptions for both CD's are
  114. also available, at $59.95 per year for the Gold version and $44.95 for the
  115. Share version.  There are expected to be four releases per year, so the
  116. subscription is actually for 4 CD's, regardless of when they actually end up
  117. shipping.

  119. The only physical difference between the Aminet Gold CD and the Aminet Share
  120. CD is the front cover artwork.  Built into the price of the Aminet Gold CD
  121. is an automatic contribution to the creators of the CD and sufficient margin
  122. to make the disk attractive to low volume resellers and retail sales
  123. outlets.  Users who purchase to the Aminet Share version are expected to
  124. make their own contributions directly to the creators if they feel that the
  125. CD is worthwhile and wish to support creation of future Aminet CD's.

  130. MEETING PEARLS CD

  133. We are expecting to have the second pressing of the Meeting Pearls CD in
  134. stock in the next few days.  This CD contains about 150 high quality and
  135. high resolution fractals, a ready to run version of PasTeX which includes
  136. fonts for FAX and 600 DPI printers, a ready to install version of the Amiga
  137. NetBSD port, and many other ready to run applications including UMS, DaggeX,
  138. a lot of utilities, games, etc.

  140. Because the version of NetBSD expected to be included on the CD-ROM includes
  141. encryption code that is restricted for U.S export, all imported CD's will
  142. only be available for resale within the U.S.

  145. SPECIAL BBS VERSION OF FROZENFISH
  146. =================================

  148. By special request from BBS operators, we are issuing a limited number of a
  149. custom version of the April 1994 FrozenFish CD, updated with some new
  150. material, and called "FrozenFish-PC".  This CD has the complete contents of
  151. each floppy disk 1-1000 in a single archive and all directory and file names
  152. are ISO-9660 level 1 compliant (8.3 format, uppercase only, etc).  This
  153. means that the CD is completely compatible with IBM-PC based systems, unlike
  154. our regular Amiga CD's which are closer to ISO-9660 level 2.
  155.  
  156. For at least the next month or so, each copy of this CD is an individually
  157. created CD-R "gold disk", which is completely compatible with mass
  158. production CD's and CD-ROM drives.  Sometime soon we expect to do a small
  159. production run of this CD and people who received the CD-R versions can
  160. upgrade to the production version for $5 plus shipping costs.  The price of
  161. this CD is $24.95 for either version, because of the lower volumes and thus
  162. higher production costs per CD.

  165. ATTENTION ALL AUTHORS

  168. Amiga Library Services is actively looking to expand our CD-ROM offerings.
  169. If you are an Amiga user with a good idea for an Amiga specific CD-ROM,
  170. please consider letting us act as your publisher.  We will handle all
  171. details concerning actual production of the CD-ROM, advertising, sales, and
  172. distribution.  All you have to do is have a good idea and to be willing to
  173. spend the necessary time to create a ready-to-publish master file tree for
  174. the CD.

  177. FUTURE FLOPPY DISK RELEASES

  180. After completing disk 1000 in the floppy library earlier this year, we made
  181. arrangements with another party to continue the floppy library past disk
  182. 1000.  It has now been over six months since we were first promised a new
  183. batch of floppy disks, based on selected material from the FreshFish CD's,
  184. and we have yet to see any results.
  185.  
  186. While I was at the Computer '94 show in Cologne in early November, I made
  187. tentative arrangements to have this task taken over by someone else with the
  188. time and experience to do an excellent job of continuing the floppy library.
  189. I expect to finalize this arrangement soon, and am sorry that it has taken
  190. so long to bring the floppy distribution back on line.

  193. ELECTRONIC SUBMISSIONS
  194. ======================

  196. Material for inclusion in the CD-ROM distribution can now be submitted
  197. electronically via anonymous ftp.  Please upload your submissions as an lha
  198. archive, one archive per submitted program, to the ftp incoming directory on
  199. ftp.amigalib.com.  Please include a "Product-Info" file in the lha archive.
  200. This file describes the material using a standard format that is recognized
  201. by the new version of KingFisher and by tools that we use to automatically
  202. generate information about the CD contents.  If you don't have a copy of the
  203. Product-Info specification, it can be retrieved via anonymous ftp from
  204. ftp.amigalib.com, in directory pub/amiga.
  205.  
  206. If you do not have access to anonymous ftp, you can still submit material
  207. electronically by mailing a uuencoded lha archive to
  208. "submissions@amigalib.com".

  211. ELECTRONIC ORDERS

  214. You can email orders to be paid via credit card (VISA or MasterCard only) to
  215. "orders@amigalib.com".  All such orders must include the full name of the
  216. card holder, the card number, the expiration date, and a daytime phone
  217. number which can be used to verify the order.  We will attempt to
  218. acknowledge all such received orders via return email, and to verify an
  219. unspecified percentage via phone calls.

  221. Please note that it is considered to be somewhat risky to send credit card
  222. information via electronic mail without encrypting it.  We are not currently
  223. ready to start receiving encrypted orders, but may be able to do so in the
  224. future.  We cannot be responsible for any fraudulent use of credit card info
  225. that is intercepted by a third party during it's transmission.
